02138, an upstart magazine that caters to Harvard graduates wanted a unique and effective package to house its promotional materials....needless to say, this piece accomplished that! First of all, the stock chosen was solid black Fibermark Touché, which has a special "grippy" tactile feeling to it. The opaque white, silver and red UV screen printed inks literally sit on the surface of the paper imparting an etched look to the graphics. At different angles, the silver catches the light and "flashes" out at the reader. Custom black elastics with hidden barbs were used to retain the magazine, and hidden magnets were used as closures. The flap just seems to magically "snap" closed as it is folded over. This piece required considerable engineering and prototyping to work out all of the various details involved, but the result was well worth the effort.
