Question:
Is Atlas Press a print broker or “middle man”?

Answer: For lack of a better word, yes we are a print broker, although we don't like the connotation of that word. Broker implies someone that brings a buyer and seller together and earns a commission from the deal. Atlas Press is a value added reseller. We provide a service for both the buyer and seller. For the seller (print production facility) we provide sales, customer service, material purchasing (we buy all of our own paper), and accounts receivable, (we typically pay in 10 days). We also provide the comfort factor to our suppliers that when a job comes in under the Atlas name, all of the details and loose ends will be handled and they will be paid, even if Atlas is not! In return for this steady stream of work with no material outlay, reduced risk and quick payment, we are given royal treatment and discounted prices. Some of our relationships go back to our very beginning in 1969.

For the print buyer, we provide the objectivity of representing various production facilities, each with their own strengths. We do not have to “sell” a 40" press if a 28" press will do. We can freely suggest web printing if we feel that there may be a savings there. In a nutshell, we can give our customers options that no single print facility can. The result is some very unique projects (see our gallery of work). We also go to bat for our clients when problems arise, we are your advocates in an industry that can at times be highly technical and confusing. We have been doing this for quite a while and we look out for our customers’ best interests, yes, we gladly get in the “middle” for our customers’ sake! We will accept the title, “middle man”. Call us what you want, we care very deeply about your satisfaction.

Does using a company like Atlas Press undermine my job as a print buyer?

Answer: We don't think so. As a savvy print buyer, you already have a toolbox full of suppliers. Think of us as just another tool, keep us there and reach for us when you need us. At first, you will use us only when no other tool fits, but soon you will find that we are handy for many applications. We also see many one person production departments that simply could use a little help managing complex projects. We are here to help.

Will I know where my work is being produced?

Answer: Absolutely. We want your involvement and welcome you on press OKs. We can even arrange to print jobs in facilities that are convenient to you or your distribution needs. Shipping to the midwest? Why not print out there and keep shipping costs to a minimum?

Question:
Who is responsible when there is a problem?

Answer: Atlas Press, Period. We sell the job, we bill the job and we take full financial responsibility for the job. This is a principle that goes back to our company’s beginning in 1969. We are most proud of our ability to get jobs right the first time, but we are equally proud of our ability to correct problems when they do arise.
