Clear Credit Card:

Cohoes Stores, a division of Burlington Coat Factory, wanted to produce a unique credit card with a "clear" difference (we just had to say that). That's right,they wanted a totally clear credit card. This project presented many technical hurdles to the production team. We had to address issues not normally encountered with typical opaque credit cards, like the ability of the card to be read with optical card reading equipment that normally relies upon a laser light reflecting off of the card (not possible with a clear card), the placement of the signature panel as well as the thermal imaging of the users' names on the card. In addition to all of this, we also produced a custom hologram that was integrated into the card. As part of the rollout program, we also produced humungous cards (14 times enlarged) to hang overhead in the stores for customers to see. These humungous cards were just like their mini brothers, complete with huge holograms! Rumor has it that an Atlas staffer went to one of the Cohoes stores with one of these humungous cards.. he thought that he would have a "larger" line of credit with it.
